Southport Pleasureland reopens for 2019 with six brand new rides

Southport Pleasureland has officially launched for 2019 this weekend with six brand new rides.

The theme park, which is a must-do summer activity for many Merseyside families, re-opened on April 6 featuring a new expansion, zones and food and drink outlet.

During the shutdown season, the park has seen a 20% uplift in investment and an expansion to its seafront area - and now families can officially enjoy it.

The now larger park features brand new rides such as a spinning mouse coaster, reverse bungee, big pirate ship and a new big wheel too.

Park owner Normal Wallis said: “We took the decision to spend more on the park and reduce ride costs.

“The plan is to make the park even more accessible as well as more attractive, bringing more visitors from further afield to the town.

“We’ve concluded our recruitment drive to make sure we have boosted staff numbers as the season opens, creating new jobs. All of it will provide a lift for the local economy."

This year, Mr Wallis has also reduced park prices for 2019, making the family attraction more affordable - the park’s more than 40 rides and attractions will now range from £1 to £3, maximum.

The park’s new Marketing Manager Lauren Cronley said: “We wanted to ensure that families have a great day at the park, that we deliver excellent value and quality and that those families come back.

“Pleasureland will always be free to enter, but the new prices for rides and attractions will encourage people to make a day of it.”

Only two rides on the newly expanded park will be priced over £3 - the big wheel and the bungee trampolines.

Southport Pleasureland’s opening times remain the same - 11am to 6pm daily.
