Southmead Road car crash leaves woman in life-threatening condition

A woman has been left in a life-threatening condition after being involved in a crash earlier today. The pedestrian was on Southmead Road at around 5pm before she before the incident involving a car.

She is now in a life-threatening condition following the incident that happened earlier this afternoon (February 22). Avon and Somerset Police is appealing for witnesses after the crash that occurred near Henleaze Road roundabout. If you have any information that may help with the investigation on Southmead Road earlier today, you should contact the police on 101 and quote log 709 of today.

It follows heavier traffic than usual affecting Bristol City Centre earlier this evening in the aftermath of rush hour. First Bus confirmed that 13 of their services were facing delays - some of which were up to half an hour late. "Very heavy traffic" on Redcliff Street, has led to the city centre becoming gridlocked and creating chaos for people trying to leave their workplaces this evening. The Metrobus, park and ride services and normal bus services are all being affected.
