Southmead cordon: Man suffered puncture wound to neck after attack

A man suffered a 'puncture wound' to his neck after an attack in Southmead.

Several officers and paramedics descended on Charfield Road at around 7pm tonight (Monday).

A cordon remains in place along the route, and police are keen to reassure the community that this was 'an isolated' assault.

One man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested and he remains in custody.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "At 7pm tonight we received a report a man had been assaulted on Charfield Road, Bristol.

"Shortly afterwards a man aged in his 40s presented at Southmead hospital with a puncture wound to his neck. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"Officers subsequently arrested a man in aged his 30s from an address on Greystoke Avenue. He remains in police custody.

"We’d like to reassure the public this is an isolated incident between people known to each other.

"A cordon is in place on Charfield Road and specialist crime scene investigators will now examine the area.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
