What’s Going To Happen
Sam Houston State survived a 43-38 blast of a shootout against SE Louisiana with 672 yards of total offense with a monster 428-yard, two touchdown day from QB Eric Schmid – he ran for 88 yards, too.
The Bearkats might need that again to keep up with a high-octane Nicholls O.
The Colonels rolled through their first two games and had to work a little bit to get by Northwestern State, but QB Lindsay Scott was once again fantastic with 299 passing yards and three scores along with 91 yards on the ground.
The Sam Houston State defensive front will hold up against the Colonel running game, and Schmid and the O will do just enough in the fourth quarter to survive huge offensive day from Scott.

What’s Going To Happen
McNeese will finally get to have a little fun.
The Cowboys pulled off a thriller of an overtime win over Tarleton State to start the season, but couldn’t stop Incarnate Word and struggled offensively in a 25-20 loss to SE Louisiana. However, QB Cody Orgeron and the offense are about to go off on a Lamar team that gave up 97 points over the first two games.
The Cardinals were ripped apart by Nicholls and Incarnate Word, with the offense struggling to keep up and the defense doing next to nothing to get into the backfield and generate third down stops.
At home, McNeese will get out to a good early start, the defense will force three takeaways, and it’ll be a stat-sheet filler.

What’s Going To Happen
Northwestern State wasn’t bad in the 31-24 loss to Nicholls. The defense held up reasonably well against Lindsey Scott and the Colonel attack, and the ground game was terrific with Aubrey Scott and Scooter Adams ripping off several big runs.
SE Louisiana overcame the loss to Sam Houston State with a strong day from QB Cole Kelley and four takeaways from the D to beat McNeese 25-25.
The Lions haven’t been perfect so far, but they’ve got the offense to offset the home runs hit by the Demons. It’ll be a fun game with a whole lot of big plays, but with SE Louisiana pressing on with good enough offensive balance to get by.
