Dave Holcomb of Southern Pigskin recently ranked the top-10 SEC showdowns of the 2019 season, a list that included two Georgia games.
Georgia’s schedule is once again a tough one, with home games against Notre Dame, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas A&M. On the road, Georgia faces difficult (some more than others) matchups vs Tennessee, Auburn, Florida (neutral) and Georgia Tech.
In Holcomb’s rankings of the top games, the two Georgia ones included were Texas A&M (No. 6) and Florida (No. 2). Personally, I would have found room for Georgia vs Auburn somewhere on here. However, it’s important to note that this list is comprised of matchups that generate intrigue, such as rare cross-division games.
At No. 1 on his list is Alabama’s at Texas A&M.
In explaining his Georgia vs Texas A&M pick, Holcomb explores the possibility of the Aggies potentially knocking off Alabama in the regular season.

6. Texas A&M at Georgia
Could this possibly be a SEC Championship Game preview? Maybe.
Last year, it was the rotating cross-divisional foe (loss to LSU) that ultimately killed their national championship hopes following a defeat in the SEC Championship Game.
As for No. 2 on the list, Georgia vs Florida, this game should be extra exciting this year. Putting aside the fact that the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party will likely decide the SEC East, fans should prepare to see a physical, chippy game as a result of all the offseason chatter. And as physical as things may get on the turf, look for the same level of emotion in the stands of TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville.
