Southern California church vandalized with swastikas in what police say could be a hate crime

LOS ANGELES_Vandals spray-painted a Buena Park church with swastikas and other graffiti in what police said Saturday could be a hate crime.

Authorities said vandals struck True Light Christian Church. Although it was not clear when the crime occurred, police discovered the graffiti Saturday morning, Buena Park Police Sgt. Mike Lovchik said.

"We have no suspect information at this point," Lovchik said, emphasizing that the investigation was just beginning.

Photos provided to The Orange County Register appeared to show writing in red spray paint and at least three swastikas on white, outside walls.

"There is no indication as to why this location was targeted," police said in a statement, "but based on the nature of the vandalism and the proximity to the church, this is being investigated as a possible hate crime."

No additional details were immediately available. Voice messages left at the church were not immediately returned.
