Commuters trying to get to London on Southeastern services have had their journey severely delayed due to a signalling problem between London Bridge and New Cross.
It led to major disruptions at London Bridge, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Waterloo East stations, causing misery for passengers during rush hour.
Trains were initially cancelled at Charing Cross station and Waterloo East station, but they eventually began to run amid warnings of severe delays and alterations.
The disruptions are expected to continue until 10am.
A statement on Southeastern's website on Tuesday morning read: "Following a major failure of the signalling equipment in the London Bridge area, services in and out of London Bridge, London Waterloo East, London Charing Cross and London Cannon Street are now able to run."
"London Underground, London Overground and Docklands Light Railway are accepting Southeastern tickets on reasonable routes."
"We are sorry for the delay to your journey today."
Many commuters took to social media to express their frustration at the delays, with one person saying: "Hour delays isn't acceptable, especially paying this much a month, expect a better service."
Others posted photos showing commuters waiting on crowded platforms before climbing onto packed trains.
Southeastern advised its customers who were delayed by more than 30 minutes to claim compensation.
