Southeastern passengers to get refunds for delay of 15 minutes

Southeastern railway passengers will be able to claim compensation if their train is delayed by 15 minutes or more from today.

The Delay Repay 15 scheme halves the time a train can be late before customers are able to claim money from the operator.

Managing director David Statham said: “I’m delighted to announce these improvements to Delay Repay, which will make a real difference for people who experience delays of between 15 and 29 minutes.”

Other networks, including Govia Thameslink Railway and South Western Railway, have already introduced the national scheme.

Rail minister Chris Heaton-Harris said: “It is absolutely right that when things go wrong passengers are compensated fairly and quickly.” Those delayed will have 28 days to make claims.
