Southbank Bar launches special Nottingham Forest menu to celebrate 40th anniversary of European Cup win

Football fans can now get their teeth stuck into 'The Clough and Taylor' as part of a limited edition Nottingham Forest menu created in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the club's first European Cup win.

Seven themed-dishes including an Irish-flavoured O'Neill and Keane burger and pizza (complete with bubble and squeak) will be available at Southbank Bar Trent Bridge throughout May and June.

The meals cost £10 each and include either a 6oz beef burger, chicken burger or veggie burger, all served with fries and house 'slaw. There's also a stonebaked pizza. The price includes a pint of Navigation Forest Pale Ale or a soft drink.

Extras such as onion rings and sweet potato fries can be added to dishes at an extra charge.

Forest's first European Cup victory took place on May 30, 1979, when the Reds beat Malmo 1-0.

Just two seasons earlier, Forest had been in the second division and the legend that was (Sir) Brian Clough would take them on this amazing journey to become European Champions the following year too.

Operations Manager for Great Northern Inns, who own The Southbank Bar, Tom Holodynsky says: “The Southbank Bar on Trent Bridge stands beside the much loved city ground and is home to many a Forest fan both on and off match days so it seemed fitting to celebrate this amazing achievement of one of the city’s teams.

"When one of our chef’s approached us with the idea for a celebratory menu, we thought it was a great idea so have brought it to life to coincide with the anniversary of NFFC becoming Kings of Europe.”

The celebration menu is available now and will be running every day in May and June.
