Southampton vs Tottenham
Premier League 2018-19
Venue: St Mary's Stadium
Kick-off: 3pm GMT, today

Tottenham will have to cope without Mauricio Pochettino on the touchline as Spurs face their coach's former club on the south coast.

Pochettino will be serving the first game of his two-match ban from the FA following a confrontation with referee Mike Dean at Burnley, with the Argentine also set to miss Spurs' clash against Liverpool.

Tottenham beat Borussia Dortmund in midweek to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals, but Spurs - who will be led by Jesus Perez on the touchline - need a return to domestic form after picking up just one point from their last three League outings.

Southampton vs Tottenham team news and predicted lineups

Kieran Trippier is on the road to recovery, while Dele Alli (thigh) and Harry Winks (hip) face late fitness tests for Spurs.

Pochettino may opt for three at the back again with Danny Rose and Serge Aurier out wide.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Aurier, Sissoko, Dier, Rose, Eriksen, Son, Kane

Southampton have chosen not to risk Danny Ings. The forward was in contention to return following a hamstring injury, but will instead be given the next international football break to make a full recovery.

Mario Lemina (abdominal problem) is expected to miss out again while Michael Obafemi (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Southampton XI: Gunn; Valery, Bednarek, Yoshida, Vestergaard, Bertrand; Romeu, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse; Redmond, Austin

Score prediction: Southampton 1-2 Tottenham

Spurs turned in a near-perfect Champions League away performance in Dortmund in midweek, though had Hugo Lloris to thank for more than some top saves.

Pochettino's side have enough quality to see off Southampton in their bid to hold onto a top-three finish, and the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea lurking close behind should focus minds for another away test.

Head to Head history and results (h2h)

Spurs have won 21 of their 39 Premier League meetings with Southampton, drawing seven and losing the other 11.]

Their two clubs' last meeting was back in December, with Spurs winning 3-1 at Wembley.

How will Pochettino's ban affect Tottenham?

Pochettino must be away from the technical area and is not permitted to sit in or behind the area of the dugout or any barrier adjacent to the touchline or goal line. He may communicate with the dugout only by means of either a telephone or a “runner”.

There is more good news for Spurs as Pochettino can communicate with the team in the changing room prior to the game and at half-time.
