Liverpool kick off the new year with a Premier League clash against Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp 's men take on the Saints in their first match of 2021 as they bid to retain their title.

The Reds ended 2020 on top of the table, with 33 points from their opening 16 games.

They were held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United at St James' Park last time out.

Overall, though, they have made a good start to the campaign are safely in the top half - seven points behind the leaders.

Winger Nathan Redmond is also closing in on a return to fitness for the Saints - but defender Jannik Vestergaard is still out with a knee problem.
