Southampton v Everton preview
Everton make the trip to Southampton for their first away game of the season, having come from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Watford at Goodison Park last weekend . Their hosts shared the points with Newcastle in a match that ended with an identical scoreline.
Having missed out on his team’s opening game due to a ruptured achilles tendon last week, manager Ronald Koeman will be in the dug-out, but on the field he will be forced to make do without Jordie Claise (hamstring) and Steven Caulker (sinus infection), as well as long-term absentees Fraser Forster (knee) and Florin Gardos (knee). Defender Ryan Bertrand (both knees!) is not yet ready to take a place on the bench, but is expected to be back in full training in two weeks. Gaston Ramirez is also unlikely to feature.
Everton’s medical staff are also being kept busy, looking after Leighton Baines (ankle), Steven Pienaar (thigh), Aiden McGeady (hamstring), Darron Gibson (ankle) and Tony Hibbert (knee). Kevin Mirallas, Muhamed Besic and Gerard Deulofeu are also doubtful to play any part against Saints.
