Southampton have reportedly made a special request to the Premier League after falling foul of another refereeing decision on Tuesday.
Mike Dean took charge of the Saints' fixture at Old Trafford as they were hit with a 9-0 hammering by Man Utd.
It was a busy night for the official, who brandished a red card to Saints' midfielder Alexandre Jankewitz after just two minutes.
While there were no complaints about that incident, Dean's handling of a penalty appeal later in the game has caused controversy.
Dean pointed to the spot after United striker Anthony Martial went down in the box under close pressure from Saints' defender Jan Bednarek.
Replays showed Martial had already begun tumbling to the turf before minimal contact was made in a clear dive.
But even after consulting the VAR, the decision was upheld.
By letter of the law Dean then had little choice but to give Bednarek his marching orders.
The decision would not have dramatically altered the result, given Southampton were already six goals down, but it may have helped them salvage some pride had Bednarek remained on the field.
And according to Radio Solent , the club have now asked that neither Dean nor Lee Mason be appointed as the designated official for any of their matches in the near future.
It comes after Mason missed a clear penalty in Southampton's match against Aston Villa on Saturday.
A shot from Stuart Armstrong struck Villa defender Matty Cash on the arm on its way to goal, but both Mason and the VAR - who happened to be Dean in that fixture - decided against awarding a spot kick.

Speaking after their latest drubbing against United, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said: "Jan Bednarek does not kill him [Martial] but I do not want to speak about the referee.
"Last week he was our VAR and made his mark in the game."
The result was particularly jarring for Hasenhuttl, given his side lost by the same humiliating scoreline just 16 months ago to Leicester.
Southampton travel to Newcastle on Saturday with Craig Pawson taking the whistle and Robert Jones assisting on VAR duties.
