Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier sums up what Palace fans are thinking about Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Former Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been named in the senior England squad for the first time by Gareth Southgate.

The Croydon-born 21-year-old has been included in the Three Lions squad for the first time, as England prepare for games against Bulgaria and Kosovo over the upcoming international break.

Wan-Bissaka has played for England at U21 level, having been included in Aidy Boothroyd's squad last season following his impressive form at Palace , while he also featured at the European U21 Championships this summer.

But now, after playing in the first three games of the season for Manchester United following his big-money move this summer, Wan-Bissaka has been promoted to the senior squad.

However, that has got Palace fans talking, with several supporters saying the same thing about his inclusion, coming after his move to Old Trafford.

And former Southampton star Matt Le Tissier has summed up how Palace fans are thinking about Wan-Bissaka's call-up, with the Sky pundit posing a question on social media following the announcement of the latest squad.

He said: "Is Wan Bissaka playing so much better this season that he deserves an England call up? Surely he was playing the same way for Palace last season hence the move.

Southgate has, however, moved to explain his reasoning behind calling up Wan-Bissaka now, following his move to Manchester United.

He said: "We tracked him very closely last year and we thought he had an outstanding year but we wanted him to stay with the under-21 group.

"He's adapted really well and very quickly to a high profile move and playing in front of 70,000 fans brings an intensity and a pressure so we're really looking at him and Trent (Alexander-Arnold).
