Ralph Hasenhuttl has claimed that Ralf Rangnick will 'turn every stone' at Manchester United following his interim appointment.
The MEN revealed on Thursday that Rangnick had agreed terms to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis and, after Michael Carrick led United to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, the 63-year-old's move to the club was made official on Monday.
Rangnick will spend an initial six months as United's interim manager before he moves upstairs to operate in a consultancy role.
Southampton boss Hasenhuttl managed at RB Leipzig for two years before he moved to the Premier League and he worked closely with Rangnick throughout that period, with the German acting as the club's sporting director across Hasenhuttl's tenure.
Hasenhuttl can therefore offer unique insight into Rangnick's methods and he was asked about his appointment at United.
“I know him very well. We had two very successful years in Leipzig," Hasenhuttl said.
"He was a sports director and I took the team over after he had promoted the team to the Bundesliga, so I know how he is and how he is and he’s a very hard worker. I think he needs a good team around him and then he will turn every stone around there, for sure.
"He doesn’t want to have weakness in any part of his clubs. Half a year is not so long, to be honest, to turn things around but especially with his work, he’ll have a big impact on this club, for sure. I’ll send him a message to congratulate him on his big dream.
"He always wanted to come to the Premier League and it’s fantastic for him."
