Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl hopeful of injury boost ahead of Leeds United trip

Southampton head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl is hopeful that midfielder Stuart Armstrong will be fit to face Leeds United on Tuesday night.

Saints snapped a six-match Premier League losing streak on Saturday when they held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at St Mary's.

Next up for the south coast side is a trip to West Yorkshire on Tuesday evening to take on a Leeds side that fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday evening.

Scotland international Armstrong had to sit out against the Blues, but Hasenhuttl believes he will be able to call on him at Elland Road.

Bielsa reflects on Leeds United's loss to Wolves

"It is nothing serious," the Austrian said following Saturday's match. "He was out for a few days but could now be an option for Tuesday. We will have a look at him."

Prior to the Chelsea match, Hasenhuttl admitted his frustration at his side's current injury problems.

"I am still not happy. Kyle [Walker-Peters] is out for the game, for a few weeks maybe," he said.

"He was there for the good run and was not there for the bad run. This is a never-ending story. We have problems with injuries.

"Hopefully we have no new injuries. We will miss him, Ibra [Diallo] and Theo [Walcott] - three important players and we have to trust the players we have."

Southampton's dire run of six defeats on the bounce included a 9-0 defeat to Manchester United, but Hasenhuttl is hopeful that his side can now get some momentum back.

"A draw feels like a win," he added following the 1-1 draw.. "It's a step towards us returning to our normal form."

"We are believing in what we are doing. The Premier League is tough. For us, it is good that we take a point from such a strong side."

Leeds welcome Southampton to Elland Road for a 6pm kick-off on Tuesday.
