Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl confirms injury setback for Spurs loanee Kyle Walker-Peters

Southampton will be without Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters for this weekend's game with Aston Villa, Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed.

The Spurs full-back made his Southampton debut last weekend against Burnley as he featured for the first time since making the move to St Mary's on loan in January.

Walker-Peters started against the Clarets, but was substituted in the second half as Southampton lost out 2-1 at home against Sean Dyche's men.

And Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Walker-Peters will not be involved when Southampton host Villa at St Mary's on Saturday.

Mourinho praises his side despite 1-0 loss to Leipzig

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: "He's injured now and cannot play at the weekend.

"It is a calf injury, not that bad but couldn't train this week. Hopefully next week he can start again."

It is a setback for the 22-year-old, who has made the move on loan in a bid to try and get regular first team football.

The game against Burnley was Walker-Peters' first game in the Premier League since August, having only featured five times for Spurs this season before making the move to join Southampton.

Walker-Peters started the first three league games of the season for Spurs, but only featured in a Carabao Cup tie against Colchester United and the Champions League group stage dead rubber against Bayern Munich in December after that.
