Southall stabbing: Murder probe launched after man in 60s knifed to death in west London

A murder probe has been launched after a man in his 60s was stabbed to death in west London.

Police scrambled to Southall at around 6.40pm on Saturday after reports of a man being stabbed.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended and found a man in his 60s suffering with a stab wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His next of kin have been informed.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to St. Mary’s Avenue in Southall at 6.41pm on Saturday after a report of a man being stabbed.

"Officers, London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance Service attended and treated a man in his 60s suffering with a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene."

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He is currently in hospital under police guard being treated for minor injuries, police said.

A crime scene and road closures remain in place while police investigate.
