South Yorkshire referee revealed for Leeds United's vital Millwall clash

Leeds United will fall under the watchful eye of a fellow Yorkshireman when they host Millwall at Elland Road in a vital Championship encounter on Tuesday.

The Whites are out of action this weekend due to the FA Cup fourth round but will resume their quest for Premier League promotion early next week with the visit of the Lions.

Their man in the middle will be no stranger to Marcelo Bielsa and his men either, as Darren England prepares to take charge in West Yorkshire for the first time this year.

It will not be his first engagement with United this term however, having taken charge of them - for the seventh time in all - in their comfortable victory over Stoke City in August.

That result levelled up Leeds' record under his officiating, making it three wins, three defeats and a lone draw since he first refereed them in December 2017.

By far their worst day with England in the middle came last New Year's Day, in their 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Kalvin Phillips was shown a straight red card in the first half for a bad tackle on Adlene Guedioura, with the Leeds man later admitting he let his side down. Phillips will be suspended on Tuesday evening following his red card at Queens Park Rangers.

England was also in charge for one of Paul Heckingbottom's disastrous games at the helm, late in the 2017-18 campaign, while he also oversaw last term's 2-1 loss against Blackburn Rovers, one of the earlier losses of the Bielsa era.

However, Leeds have picked up as many points as lost too - in their first ever game under England, Thomas Christiansen's side took victory against Norwich thanks to a Pontus Jansson header, before Heckingbottom ended his reign with a 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers too.

Supporters will surely hope that something of that Stoke performance from last August can be replicated this time around though.
