South Woodford fire: Huge blaze breaks out with 100 firefighters at scene

About 100 firefighters are tackling a massive blaze that has engulfed two floors of an industrial unit in north west London on Monday night.

Fifteen fire engines headed to the scene shortly before 10pm and there are 100 firefighters tackling the blaze at an industrial dry cleaning unit on Raven Road, in South Woodford.

Local residents are being asked to stay in doors due to "thick smoke" which is billowing from the fire.

London Fire Brigade tweeted: "Crews are working hard at the scene of the industrial unit fire in #SouthWoodford.

"Due to the type of business involved, a large amount of materials inside the premises including towels & bed linen are alight. Residents should keep doors and windows closed."

The fire brigade has said that both floors and the roof of a two-storey building are alight.

London Fire Brigade stated: "Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been called to a fire at an industrial dry cleaning unit on Raven Road in South Woodford.

"Part of the ground and first floor of the two-storey building are alight.

"Due to the nature of the business, there are a lot of materials including bed linen and towels inside which have caught alight.

"The fire is creating a lot of thick smoke so we would ask local residents to keep windows and doors closed.
