South Western Railway timetable changing in September - what you need to know

Capacity will rise by around 20% on South Western Railway trains when it increases services next month.

As part of these changes, SWR will be re-introducing two return services from Bristol to London Waterloo each day.

The new timetable will come into force on Monday September 7.

Across other parts of the west of England line, the direct service between Exeter St Davids and London Waterloo will be re-introduced and the Weymouth to Waterloo route will run every hour.

As more people return to work and use public transport, SWR will introduce additional services on peak morning routes, with trains running extra carriages to increase capacity.

During weekends, services will return to near normal timetable.

Mike Houghton, CEO of South Western Railway said, “We’ve been working hard to keep our region moving throughout coronavirus, and we continue to do so.

“This timetable change will increase capacity and help maintain social distancing as schools reopen and more people return to work.

“So everyone can travel safe, we need our customers to help. Whether you’re returning to work, sending the kids to school, or having a day out with the family, make sure you follow the latest travel guidance.”
