Jan. 11--Five people were shot during attacks Sunday afternoon on the South and West sides, officials said.
Most recently, at 3:20 p.m. a male, whose age was not immediately available, was shot twice in the leg at on the 200 block of North Homan Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, police said.
At 3:12 p.m., two people were shot in the 300 block of West 58th Street, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the neck and and a 25-year-old man was shot in the face and both were in fair condition, said Zala.
The older man suffered a graze wound to the nose and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center by ambulance, according to Chicago Fire Deparment Cmdr. Frank Velez. The other man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, officials said.
Around the same time, a 19-year-old man was shot in the 9200 block of South Indiana Avenue was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition, said Zala. The man was shot twice in the leg, Zala said.
In an earlier shooting on the West Side, one person was wounded about 12:05 p.m. in the 600 block of South California Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a spokesman for Chicago police.
The victim, a male of an unknown age, was shot in the hip and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Estrada said
