South West fish and chip chain is expanding again

A fish and chip chain which has seen restaurants pop up across the South West is opening its seventh branch, in Weymouth.

Rockfish restaurants, which are located by the sea and waterside and specialise in serving fresh local and sustainable seafood, has taken over an old pub on the seafront which is due to open as the new eatery in August.

The takeaway chain, which has twice claimed ‘Best Independent Restaurant’ at the National Fish & Chip Awards, is part of restaurateur and chef Mitch Tonks' business empire.

In a video on the new opening, he said: "This [Weymouth] has to be one of the most lovely beaches in the country - there's a mile of fine sand that gets raked every day, deck chairs get set out and I think Weymouth is the epitome of an English seaside town."

Mitch has plans to work with the local fleet of fishermen at the harbour to source delicious seafood.

You will be able to visit the new Rockfish from August (exact date to be announced) - find them at Weymouth Seafront, 48-49 The Esplanade, DT4 8DQ.
