South Tyneside school closures due to coronavirus pandemic

A number of schools and colleges across South Tyneside have closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As the virus continues to spread across the country, some schools in the borough are struggling to run as normal due to staff shortages.

Some staff members are self-isolating following the Government’s new advice, leaving schools understaffed.

The Government has said all schools will close from March 20 until further notice.

The following schools are closed:

Whitburn Church of England Academy, Rackly Way, Whitburn

Westoe Crown Primary School, Sea Winnings Way, South Shields

Keelmans Way School, Campbell Park Road

Clervaux Nursery, Clervaux Terrace, Jarrow

Helen Gibson Nursery, North Road, East Boldon

Stanhope Primary School Nursery Unit - Nursery only

St Joseph's RC Academy, Mill Lane, Hebburn

St Wilfrids RC College, Temple Park Road, South Shields
