South side trains disrupted after flooding at Pollokshields East station

Rail travellers are facing disruption this morning as rail services have been cancelled or delayed due to flooding at Pollokshields East station.

The incident at the south side station has led to all Cathcart Circle services being suspended, including services via Shawlands between Mount Florida and Glasgow Central.

Glasgow Central to Barrhead services have also been reduced have also been reduced to hourly trains.

A statement from ScotRail reads: "We've had reports of flooding in the Muirhouse area between Glasgow Central and Pollokshields East therefore circle services will be suspended to ease congestion in the area.

"Services between Glasgow Central and Newton and Neilston are running normally.

"Our services between Glasgow Central and Barrhead will be reduced to an hourly service as follows - Glasgow Central to Barrhead departs at 57 minutes past each hour.

"Barrhead to Glasgow Central will depart Barrhead at 27 minutes past each hour."

The disruption is expected to continue into the afternoon.
