South side cafe Gnom broken into overnight

Popular south side restaurant Gnom was broken into overnight, owners have confirmed.

Staff have advised the Pollokshaws Road venue will be closed today, with the place "looking a bit worse for wear".

Sharing the news on social media, they said: "Warm feels on a sad morning.

"Gnom got broken into last night and our space is looking a bit worse for wear.

"We will be closed today (4th Sep) while we sort out everything."

Gnom opened in the Strathbungo area of Glasgow at the beginning of 2018, on the back of the success of street food favourites Chompsky, with trio, Felicity Day, Tom Gentle and Andrew Owens-Smith bringing delicious dishes and bakes to the south side of the city.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "Around 01.50am this report, we received a report of a break-in to 758 Pollokshaws Road.

"Enquiries are continuing.

"We are are investigating a report of a theft by housebreaking."
