South side bar Boyd Roderick is closing its doors for good

One of the south side of Glasgow's most well loved pubs has announced its shock closure.

The Boyd Roderick pub on Pollokshaws Road broke the news this afternoon in a lengthy Facebook post, which detailed that it will close its doors permanently in a couple of weeks.

The owners have put forward the reasons for the closure as being as a result of "fixed costs with third parties [that] have become too much to maintain a sustainable business".

They mention that they are "incredibly proud of what we have built the BR into over the last year", and that they will do their "absolute best to honour bookings already made for this period, and for those we cannot as much notice as possible will be given."

Until then it will be business as usual for the south side institution "as long as we are able", with the likelihood that some staff will move on with immediate effect having a bearing on their offering over the final few weeks.

Formerly The Burrell, The Boyd Roderick opened back in August of 2017 after a £280,000 makeover.

No exact date has been given for the closure, but it is likely to be in a matter of weeks.
