South Sefton police in Operation Pelican drug swoop

Merseyside Police at South Sefton last night claimed a major success in the ongoing campaign to rid Liverpool's streets of drugs. Officers working the beat of Operation Pelican arrested an adult male in the Waterloo area on suspicion of drug supply, as well as further offences of money laundering, disqualified driving and assault.

Officers tweeted in the early hours of today: "During this (operation) over 500 street deals of cocaine and ecstasy and over £2,000 cash have been recovered."

Operation Pelican is an ongoing police campaign and was launched in 2017 to combat the drug trade and gang violence in Bootle, Netherton, Litherland and the surrounding areas. It has had several notable successes due to its specific targeting and pursuit of intelligence gathering in the region.
