South Queensferry suffers powercut after local reports rumours of a "loud bang" at a nearby substation

Locals in South Queensferry complained of suffering from a power cut after rumors of a "loud bang" and "smoke" coming from a nearby power station.

One local resident described the sound of "sirens" and "house alarms" going off in the local area.

A post by SP Energy networks confirmed that they were aware of the situation and working to bring power back to locals.

A resident said: "Just what we need in lockdown South Queensferry a power cut rumours of a loud bang, smoke coming from power station under the bridge, sirens and everyone and their grannies house alarms going mad."

The incident was later confirmed to be an electrical fault at a South Queensferry substation by Scottish Fire and Rescue.

Sp Energy confirmed they have now resolved the issue posting: "Supplies have been restored to customers affected by #POWERCUT#EH30 #SouthQueensferry. Thank you for your patience today."
