South Queensferry High Street to reopen after weeks of repair works

The High Street in South Queensferry is due to reopen after a lengthy closure due to sewage repair works.

The road was shut on March 11 after a sewer collapsed, forcing Scottish Water to strip the street of cobbles and repair the pipe.

It has caused significant traffic disruption in the area, but the end is in sight as Scottish Water say the work will be completed by the weekend.

They said: "We have successfully repaired the sewer where it had collapsed and it is now running as normal again. Our contractors on site have been doing some concrete work today and following this they will start the final part of the reinstatement, which is to re-lay the cobbles.

'Human protected bike lane' planned for Edinburgh's Forrest Road

"All being well and barring any other surprises at this stage, we hope to have the road reopened to all traffic for this weekend.

"Our site team are regularly speaking to local businesses and residents on site throughout the work and are trying to keep them informed and minimise disturbance where possible.

"We appreciate the patience of everyone in the community over the last 2 weeks and we are continuing to work as quickly as possible to complete our work."
