South Queensferry High Street closed off after 'man throws slates' from roof

Emergency services were called out to an incident in South Queensferry where a man allegedly threw slates from a roof onto the street below.

Reports on social media suggested the man may have been chased by the police before somehow reaching the roof of a building on the High Street.

Photographer Gavin Craigie captured images of the large police presence in the area, along with a video of an object being thrown from a roof towards officers below.

Police with riot shields can be seen in the video. The road was closed as emergency services dealt with the incident.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and is due to appear in court.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A man has been arrested and charged following reports of an individual causing a disturbance and throwing items from a roof in Hillwood Place, South Queensferry on Tuesday, April 23.

"The 26-year-old will appear in court at a later date."
