South Manchester residents, be on the lookout - hooded teenagers are lurking in gardens checking car doors... one has distinctive 'curly brown hair'

A gang of teenagers have been seen 'loitering in gardens' trying to steal cars in south Manchester, police have warned.

The youths, believed to be between 15 and 18, have been seen outside people's homes in Burnage attempting to open car doors in recent weeks.

Reports indicate vehicles have been targeted near the suburb's border with Levenshulme down to Green End.

The teenagers have been seen wearing dark clothing and hoodies. Some of the boys have been seen on bikes. One has distinct curly brown hair.

A police spokeswoman said: “We urge residents to please make sure their cars are locked and to remove keys from the back of property doors.

“Residents with keyless entry cars should also consider storing their keys in a signal blocker bag/pouch.”

Police also recommended ensuring any gardening tools or ladders were put away and not left outside.

Anyone with further information can call GMP on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
