South London man accused over Grenfell Tower effigy video to face court

'Sick': A cardboard cut-out of Grenfell Tower is placed on to a bonfire

A south London man who was charged over a video posted online showing a burning effigy of Grenfell Tower is due in court today.

Paul Bussetti, from South Norwood, is facing two counts of sending or causing to be sent grossly offensive material via public communications network.

The 46-year-old is set to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.

A video of a cardboard model of Grenfell Tower being burned on Bonfire Night prompted public outrage when it was posted online in November.

The shared video included a replica of the west London tower being placed on top of a bonfire, with smaller human effigies hanging from it.

Six men were arrested and a seventh interviewed under caution over the video.

A total of 72 people died as a result of the devastating fire on June 14, 2017.
