Some bin collections have been suspended this week after coronavirus hit refuse collection services in South Lanarkshire.
Burgundy food and garden waste bins in Hamilton and Clydesdale won't be collected this week as a result and residents are being asked to wait until their next collection date in two weeks time.
SLC have apologised for the inconvenience and added: "There has been a significant impact on refuse collection resources this week, which is affecting our ability to deliver services."
With resources stretched, the council's priority is to maintain recycling (blue and grey bins) and non-recyclable waste (black/green bins) collections.
Residents in Clydesdale and Hamilton whose burgundy bin was not collected yesterday (Monday, February 8) are being asked to return them to where they are normally kept as the council won't be able to empty them.
Everyone else affected has been asked not to put the burgundy bins out until the next collection date in week beginning February 22.
A spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council said: "Our kerbside waste collection services have kept going throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, almost entirely without fail.
"However, there has been a significant impact on refuse collection resources this week, which is affecting our ability to deliver services.
"Our priority during winter is to maintain recycling (your blue and grey bins) and non-recyclable waste (your black/green bins) collections where possible, so we have taken the difficult decision to suspend the collection of burgundy food and garden waste bins for the rest of this week.
"If your burgundy bin was due for collection on Monday, February 8, but was not emptied please return it to your store it, as we are unable to collect it. You should put your bin on Monday, February 22.
"If your burgundy bin is due for collection between Tuesday and Friday February 9 and 12, please do not put your bin at the kerbside until the next scheduled collection day in two weeks’ time.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
