South Lanarkshire Council leader receives first dose of Covid-19 vaccination

South Lanarkshire Council leader John Ross is one of the latest locals to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.

The SNP politician rolled up his sleeve for his first dose of the vaccine on Thursday, February 18.

It comes as NHS Lanarkshire work through the 65 and over category in the vaccination programme.

This group was expected to be completed by late February.

Councillor Ross arrived at Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre in Hamilton for his jab and is urging locals across the county to do the same to help look after loved ones.

He said: “I was pleased to take my turn to get the jag and I urge everyone else to do the same, to protect themselves and others.”

All appointments for everyone aged 65 and over and for those who are clinically extremely vulnerable were scheduled by the national system and the letters have been posted.

NHS Lanarkshire asks that you are patient and await your letter’s arrival.

So far, over 120,000 locals have received their first vaccination jab, equating to over 20 per cent of the adult population in the area.
