South Lanarkshire Council have reached out to more than 9000 `shielded' residents during coronavirus

More than 9000 residents in South Lanarkshire have now been contacted under the `Shielding’ scheme however the authority say a small number on the list they have been unable to reach.

South Lanarkshire Council say they are now writing to those who they have been unable to make contact with to ask if they need support or are ok.

A post on South Lanarkshire Council’s Facebook page today stated: “We have now contacted 9,500 South Lanarkshire residents under the ‘Shielding’ scheme and provided thousands of vulnerable people with food, medicine and other help.

But there’s a small number on our list that we have not been able to reach using the numbers provided by the Scottish Government. We are now writing to ask them to let us know if they need any support – or just to tell us they are ok.

“If you receive a letter, please call us on the council’s Wellbeing Helpline 0303 123 1009, which is open during normal office hours, Monday to Friday.

And if you know anyone in this position, please urge them to get in touch with us.”
