South Lanarkshire Council dish out cash from Hamilton Area Committee

Community groups throughout Hamilton and the surrounding areas have shared a cash boost of over £6000.

South Lanarkshire Council dished out the cash at the recent meeting of the Hamilton Area Committee.

And recipients include Scouts, residents’ groups, environmental projects like Brighter Bothwell, pensioners and embroiders.

A total of £6385 was agreed from the committee’s £25,700 2019/20 budget, as well as grants of £2675 approved at the end of the 2018/19 financial year.

In addition, they agreed to award £1800 to help with the funding of three playschemes to allow them to operate during the summer, October and Easter school holidays.

The full list of community grants is:

■ Trinity Church Women’s Group, Hamilton, £200 for an outing

■ The Hamilton and District branch of the Embroiders’ Guild, £300, for an outing, entrance fees and equipment

■ Royal British Legion Scotland Women’s Section, Larkhall, £250, for an outing and entrance fees

■ Quarter Parish Church Friendship Group, £250, for an outing and entrance fees

■ Eddlewood Bowling Club, seniors section, £200, for an outing

■ Dalserf Church Guild, Larkhall, £200, for an outing

■ Trinity Church Guild Larkhall, £250, for an outing and entrance fees

■ Brighter Bothwell, £300 for an environmental project

■ Eddlewood Senior Citizens Bowling Games Club, £200 for an outing

■ Larkhall Congregational Church Women’s Fellowship, £200 for an outing

■ Phillips Electronics Pensioners Association, £200 for an outing

■ Ferniegair Old Folks Association, Hamilton, £200 for an outing

■ 112th Lanarkshire Explorer Group, Hamilton, £140 for entrance fees

■ 112 th Lanarkshire Beaver Scouts, Hamilton, £200 for an outing

■ 112 th Lanarkshire Cub Scout Group, Hamilton, £200 for entrance fees

■ 112 th Lanarkshire Scout Group, Hamilton, £200 for entrance fees

■ Hamilton South Guilds Together, £200 for an outing

■ Strutherhill Lunch and Social Club, Larkhall, £200 for an outing

■ Hamilton Senior Citizens Meeting, £200 for an outing

■ Earnock Residents’ Association, Hamilton, £250 for administration and publicity costs

■ South Lanarkshire Older Walkers Group, Larkhall, £200 for an outing

■ Trinity Lunch Club, Hamilton, £280 for an outing, administration and publicity costs

■ Larkhall Heritage Group, £250 for an outing and entrance fees

■ Birkenshaw Welfare Guild, Larkhall, £200 for an outing

■ St Andrew’s Church, Blantyre, £200 for an outing

■ Strutherhill Monday Lunch Club, Larkhall, £150 for an outing

■ Monday Lunch Club at the Cross, £125 for an outing

■ Supporting Our Community, Hamilton, £250 for start-up costs

■ Tuesday Lunch Club at the Cross, Larkhall, £190 for an outing

■ Larkhall OAP Association Town Branch, £200 for outing.

A grant of £600 was also awarded to each of the following playschemes: Childcare in the community, Hamilton; Blameless SCIO, Hamilton Academical Football Club; and Whitehill Universal Connections.
