South Lanarkshire Council award grants to 13 groups throughout the Clydesdale

Thirteen groups in the Clydesdale area received a funding boost from South Lanarkshire Council.

At the Clydesdale Area committee meeting yesterday (June 22), councillors approved the playscheme and community grants.

The council’s playscheme grants offer funding for playschemes which operate over the summer, October and Easter holidays. One group received funding – Lanark Universal Connections was awarded £600 to cover activities.

A dozen community grants were awarded, Kirkfieldbank Homing and Sporting Club got £270 for equipment, administration and publicity costs and The Scottish Retired Teachers Association – Clydesdale Group in Braidwood were awarded £250 for outing and entrance fees.

Elsrickle Women’s Rural Institute in Biggar received £200 for an outing and Clydesdale Community Concert Band in Carluke were given £720 for equipment.

Barn Buddies Community Interest Company in Carluke got £250 for start-up costs and Wild Things Scotland CIC in Biggar received £600 for equipment and materials.

Other groups who were awarded included Cargill House Club in Lanark who received £200 for an outing as well as Abington Bowling Club who got £300 for equipment.

Crawfordjohn Public Hall Association were awarded £500 for equipment and St Nicholas Pre School Playgroup in Lanark got £480 for materials.

Leadhills Silver Band were awarded £500 for materials as well as Lanark and District Archaeological Society who received £250 for an outing and entrance fees.

The council operates a community grants scheme to support local constituted community groups and voluntary organisations. Applications are invited continually throughout the year.

Total allocation of community grants for the year 2022 to 2023 for the Clydesdale areas is £25,750 deducting the grants given out today, £20,660 is left.
