South Korea fire: Massive blaze engulfs entire tower block with burning debris falling

A towering building has been engulfed by flames in the South Korean city of Ulsan.

Footage of the incident shared online shows the building ablaze standing tall against the black night's sky.

Large pieces of burning debris can be seen falling off the tower onto the ground below.

In one clip the flames can be seen rising up the entire side of the building while the opposite side appears relatively unaffected.

At least thirteen people have been injured in the blaze.

At least 40 residents were waiting on roof to be rescued from the flames.

The building is located in Ulsan, which is in the south east of the country.

It is the eighth largest city in the country with 1.1 million residents.

Satellite images of the area shows a helipad on top of the building, which is called the Samhwan Art-Nouveau.

At least part of the building is residential, which is 33 storeys high and is 102 metres tall.

According to witnesses the fire spread to the roof of the nearby shopping Lotte Mall.

Shortly after the fire broke out firefighters rushed to clear the 136-household block of all residents.
