South Korea approves $3.5bn in funding to cohost Olympics

The city council in the South Korean capital of Seoul has approved initial funding for a plan to cohost an Olympics with Pyongyang.

The proposal for a joint North-South bid was agreed to by the leaders of the two countries at their last summit.

But it will cost $3.5bn for South Korea alone, a price tag that is expected to climb steeply.
