South Gloucestershire now has more than 100 COVID-19 cases

Bristol now has more than 150 confirmed cases of coronavirus while South Gloucestershire has passed 100 cases for the first time.

The latest regional figures, released this afternoon (April 3), show Bristol has 156 cases, an increase of 19 from yesterday's 137.

While in South Gloucestershire there has been an increase of 13 cases, taking the total to 104.

North Somerset has seen eight new cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 86 while Bath and North East Somerset now has 52 confirmed cases.

So far 30 people in Bristol are known to have died with coronavirus.

To cope with the increasing demand of cases a conference centre at UWE is being turned into a 'Nightingale Hospital'.

The hospital on Frenchay Campus could receive up to 1,000 patients, and is understood to be a regional centre for the south west if needed, as the number of coronavirus patients rise.

Meanwhile dozens of Bristol companies have collapsed into liquidation, although some of them before the pandemic took hold.
