South Dubliners warned of thieves 'targeting older people'

South Dubliners have been warned about a gang of thieves breaking into people's houses by "climbing up on walls and getting in through bathroom windows on extensions".

The burglars have been targeting elderly people in Glenageary, with a concerned local recently posting about the issue in a local residents' group.

She said: "I want to report burglaries that are happening in Glenageary at the moment as I write this that are targeting older people and climbing up on walls and getting in through bathroom windows on extensions.

"Please be aware of cars driving around slowly and take a photo of the registration as it may save a couple of being terrorised.

"They are taking jewellery off them and their cards and money. They have gone through COVID and now have to go through this.

"Keep an eye for your neighbours and stay safe."

A garda spokesperson told Dublin Live that a burglary occurred in Glenageary yesterday evening

They said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a burglary that took place at a premises in Glenageary, Co Dublin at approximately 9pm on Monday, 20 th September 2021.

"No belongings or cash have currently been reported as taken from the premises. No injuries were reported following this incident.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
