South Dublin councillors approve second Rainbow walk in solidarity with LGBTQ+ community

South Dublin County councillors have voted to put a Rainbow walk on at least one road Crossing in SDCC in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

The motion was proposed by Independent Cllr Francis Timmons "as a symbol of Equality and a visual symbol of the LGBTQ+ community."

A location has not yet been decided for the rainbow walk.

The motion was seconded by Cllr Peter Kavanagh and ultimately approved by the councillors today at the South Dublin County Council's November meeting which was held virtually this evening.

It comes after last June Dublin City Council introduced a rainbow walk on Capel St in partnership with Dublin Pride.

The stunning mural was painted onto the street overnight outside PantiBar by a crew from the Traffic Section, and was the first of its kind in Ireland.
