South Dublin burglary gang used RIP.ie to plan raid on dead person's home

A south Dublin burglary gang have been using obituary website RIP.ie to plan raids on the empty homes of people who have recently passed away.

The gang reportedly aimed to strike one home while the family members were at the funeral and out of the house.

The Irish Independent reports this morning that the gang were intercepted by gardai in south Dublin with the exact details of a dead person's home address and funeral details ripped from RIP.ie guiding them to a target house.

The four-strong gang of convicted criminals were caught in Leopardstown before they could carry out the robbery. The gang included a wanted father-and-son who were high-level targets for specialist anti-burglary cops.

All the men were released after being intercepted.

Members of the gang - who reportedly have links to Blackrock, Bray, Crumlin, and Tallaght - were arrested in relation to a jewellery robbery in south Dublin earlier this year.
