Why Charleston Southern Will Win
Can the Buccaneers get the passing game going?
They’re getting a South Carolina team that’s very, very down after its clunker against North Carolina, and they have to try taking advantage by pounding away. Jack Chambers was able to throw for close to 200 yards in the loss to Furman, and there’s just enough of a passing attack to push the Gamecock secondary a bit.
The USC offense couldn’t control the clock in the 24-20 loss against North Carolina, it committed nine penalties, wasn’t sharp, and now has to go on without QB Jake Bentley, who’s out for at least a month with a foot injury. But …
Why South Carolina Will Win
With Alabama coming up next, this should be a nice day of tuning up new starting quarterback Ryan Hilinski.
Charleston Southern got ripped to shreds by the Furman running game in the 46-13 loss, and after not being able to establish enough on the ground, USC should be able to get Tavien Feaster and Rico Dowdle going.
In any normal week, this would be seen as a breezy game to chill out and get the backups some work, but after that loss to the Tar Heels, and considering how the team went way too conservative, get ready for the Gamecocks to be focused and bring it.

What’s Going To Happen
South Carolina is about to bring a whole lot of pain. After the embarrassing performance in Charlotte, the Gamecock offense will get hot from the start, the defense will stuff the Buc running game, and Hilinski will look the part of the quarterback to take over the program – at least until Bentley is healthy.
