South Bristol school sends some children home after Covid case

Some children have been sent home after a confirmed coronavirus case at Bedminster Down School.

The mixed secondary, on Donald Road, wrote to parents yesterday (Thursday, March 18) to say there had been a single positive test in Year 7.

It reads: "As a result, some children in Year 7 have been asked to self-isolate. We will keep this under review. If your child needs to self-isolate you will have been contacted by separate letter and advised to do so.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

"If anyone in your household develops symptoms of Covid-19, you should organise for them to be tested via the NHS online portal or by calling 119. Your household should isolate until you receive the test results giving the all clear.

"You should contact school via: covid@bedminsterdown.org.uk to let us know your child is being tested and then let us know the result of the test as soon as you receive it."

Schools across England reopened on March 8 as a stage in the roadmap out of lockdown.

Oasis Academy Bank Leaze, in Lawrence Weston, said pupils in Reception, Year 3, Year 1, its nursery and a Year 4 class had to self-isolate due to Covid-19 cases.
