South Belfast school notifies parents of positive Coronavirus case

A student at a South Belfast school has tested positive for Coronavirus.

St Joseph's College Principal Michele McCormick informed parents and guardians of the situation today (Saturday, August 29).

She told them in a letter that the student "received a positive test result for Covid-19 today".

It is understood the young person had contact with those in just one class at the Ravenhill Road Catholic school earlier this week.

"I have been in contact with the Public Health Agency (PHA) and following their advice, this afternoon myself and Miss L'Estrange contacted parents of the pupils involved," Ms McCormick added.

She also assured parents that she would keep them informed of further develops and urged them to get in touch with any questions they may have.

It is understood children in the impacted classroom have been advised to self isolate.
