South Belfast football club places ban on spectators attending games

A South Belfast football club has placed a ban on spectators attending home games to counter the ongoing threat of Covid-19.

Rosario YFC caters for 62 teams and 1,000 players from youth level to over-35s.

The club said it had to "adapt our approach" to deal with the fluid situation surrounding coronavirus.

It is understood the spectator ban will apply to Ulidia and Aquinas Grammar where Rosario play their games.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, Rosario said: "As the situation with Covid-19 changes, we must adapt our approach to dealing with it.

"As such The Covid volunteer team along with the Rosario YFC Management Committee have decided that there are to be *no spectators* allowed into the ground.

"Parents bringing U18 players to a match would be deemed as participants and will be allowed entry but we request that only one parent does so.

"Parents must social distance at Ulidia if at a game.

"Senior matches will be limited to those participating in the game, managers of that team and club officials.

"For the avoidance of doubt this includes senior women and over-35s fixtures."

The statement added: "Our Covid officers are volunteers so please treat them with the respect they deserve. Adherence to all the Covid conditions and protocols we have put in place are essential to the continuation of training and matches for over 1,000 players.

"This is an ever changing situation and we appreciate your full support."
