South Belfast club reopens for first time since Covid with new R&B night

A new R&B club night is hoping to breathe a "new lease of life" into a popular South Belfast area.

NO FRIENDS is set to launch at Onyx, a club located in the basement of House Hotel and Bar on Botanic Avenue.

The hip-hop night is the brainchild of Jack Mawdsley, artist manager at Crash Management, and local artist Travi The Native, launching this Saturday, June 10.

It will be the first time the basement club at House has been open to the public since it closed a number of years ago due to the pandemic.

Jack said: "We've been running club nights for a couple of years at Crash Management and have spotted what we believe to be a gap in the market.

"Belfast is spoilt for choice when it comes to electronic and house music and we are proud to represent artists in that space.

"Nevertheless, there remains no alternative so we have decided to launch the best Hip-Hop night in town."

NO FRIENDS will be running the night every Saturday night (9pm - 2am) for the whole of summer and the team have already been blown away by the response to the night online.

House added: "We're thrilled to be involved with the launch of No Friends in our Basement Bar here at House Belfast, on Saturday 10th June.

"We're excited to help Jack and Travis get started on this new venture as we value the importance of fresh and creative ideas in hospitality and can't wait to be a part of something that we all agree is missing across in the Belfast nightlife scene.

"Our Basement Bar is a modern venue mixing comfort and style with functionality, and decor to catch anyone's attention on a night out.

"We feel it is a great space to draw in a range of guests and perfectly inviting for the demographic that No Friends will bring."
