South Australian man dies after car crash in Adelaide's northern suburbs

Police say no-one else was involved in the crash. (ABC News:  Lincoln Rothall)

A 77-year-old Pooraka man has died after he was involved in a car crash in Adelaide's northern suburbs on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the intersection of Belalie Road and Montague Road at Ingle Farm after reports that a car left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver of the vehicle died at the scene.

Police say Montague Road was re-opened around 10:30am. (ABC News: Lincoln Rothall)

One lane of eastbound traffic on Montague Road was closed but has since reopened, as SA police examine the scene to determine the cause of the crash.

The man’s death is the 36th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year, compared with 48 at the same time last year.

Police are urging motorists to take care when driving this long weekend.
